Description

The Carrot is an annual plant widely cultivated and also found in the wild.   The wild carrot has a tough, white root that is not edible.   The delicate, white flowers appear on top of the carrot stalk from June through September.

Uses/Applications

Carrot soup makes an effective remedy for diarrhea and is easy to digest.   Use Carrot to prevent putrefaction in the intestine.   It has a diuretic action, and contains an essential oil that is effective against roundworm.   Carrots also promote eye health, help prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, soothe indigestion, and prevent diarrhea.

 

Cooked

Cooked carrots give the most cancer protection because once cooked carrots have up to five times more carotene than raw carrots.

 

Juice

Carrot juice will aid stomach acidity and heartburn.

 

Raw

Eat raw for the treatment of roundworm.

Take 1/2 carrot per day to cut lung cancer risks once you quit smoking.

Collection

Harvest at any size and refrigerate immediately.   Carrots will store up to 4 months in the refrigerator.

Preparation

Infusion

Pour a cup of boiling water onto 1 Tbsp wild carrot seed.   Infuse 10 minutes.   Take once per day.

 

Juice

Take 1 - 2 cups a day or eat 280 - 300 gr.   freshly grated carrot for breakfast.

 

Raw:

Take 2-3 raw carrots per day for 7 days to treat roundworm.

 

Soup

Boil 1/2 kg.. peeled grated carrots in 1 cup water until thick, strain, then add 1 liter of meat broth.

Growing Directions

Carrots prefer well drained soil that is high in organic matter.   Do not plant in heavy clay soil.   Spread seeds in a thin row about 2 inches wide and 1/8 inch deep.   Do not let the top soil dry out and do not allow the beds to become flooded.   Water to a 1 inch depth every 7 days.   Water first thing in the morning so the foliage can dry before evening.

History

The ancient Greek’s regarded Carrots as a love medicine. 

In American Folk medicine they were used for nervousness, asthma, dropsy, and skin disorders.   For generations' children have been instructed to eat carrots for strong eyes.

Cautions

1.   Large amounts of carrot over an extended period of time may make your skin appear yellow.   The effect is harmless and disappears once you stop eating carrots.
